Located in the heart of Gubbio, the Taverna del Lupo is one of the best restaurants in Umbria. The building is decorated with antiques and unique ceramic vases collected through the years by the Mencarelli family, who have owned and managed the restaurant for thirty years. St. Francis of Assisi is said to have domesticated “il Lupo” (wolf), and as legend has it, the same wolf used to come and have lunch at the Taverna. Mr. Rodolfo Mencarelli and his family are the perfect hosts and make sure that guests not only have a wonderful meal but that they experience the true, warm hospitality that Gubbio is famous for. The truffle is the main protagonist of his cuisine along with the best home made pasta and selected local meats.
